Green the possum plainly bakes
Guarded by the family snakes
O’er the footbridge now he takes
Clothespins to the river
There he lays them two by two
Enough for me, enough for you
Thoughts of red and dreams of glue
Awakening his liver
Making it his daily job
Possum knows he’s not a snob
Eats his meat and smokes his cob
But now he’s all aquiver
Family snakes want to help out
Moving round and round about
One can dance and one can shout
But Clem can only shiver
So take his hand and tuck your chin
Purple blue and jump right in
‘Why you wear that silly grin?’
Says Possum
